In my family, we name babies after other family members (first and/or middle). We’ve been known to go back several generations just to find the right one. We’ve even used last names for first and/or middle names.

It really depends what style of name you want. Old fashioned, modern?
And are you going to go for the alliterating Anna-and-Alex, Dylan-and-Delilah type names?
You could try using a site like babynamesworld.com which has a bug database of names.
Another idea is to think of a meaning, put that in, and see which names come up…!

just pick out names you love that don’t sound like a target for when they are growing up.

I would use the first letter of either my name or the dad’s name and use those as the first letter for both names. Ex. Dad- Bob… twins- Brock and Braylan or Mom- Trina – Taylor and Tyler. Or you could always rhyme the names. I have a friend that used the names of her dead grandmother and grandfather. eeerie… but depends on how much you loved grandma and grandpa. But I love Brock and Brooke or Kameron and Kennedi. Think of someone you love that you would like to honor and go from there.

Just stick with names you love. They dont need to be the same initial. Dare to be different…lol My mother had twins and named them John & Jill…(thinking John would be nick named Jack) Some people thought it was “cute” but…..whatever.
Too many “J” names in our family if you ask me…My mother had a thing for “J”s I guess. She had 9 kids and the last 5 began with “J”.

with twins, definitely don’t try the whole matching thing. they’re already going to be a ’set’ practically the whole time they’re growing up, they should get their own names. things like christine and christopher, or even andrew and audrey would be too much. rhymes, same letters etc are all things you should probably avoid.
but hey, you’ve got the chance to use two names you absolutely love, so have fun with it! most parents only get to use one =D.
right now, i love names like violet and drake, sophie and max, ella and harry, penelope and samuel, ruby and oliver, kiley and bruno, lily and marco, kate and david, georgia and alex, amelia and jack, beatrix and milo, charlotte and lee, annabel and freddie, nicolette and vance, etc.
and http://www.nymbler.com/nymbler/ is a really great resource to use, if you’re just starting out on looking for names. just type in names you already like (maybe your own, or ones you like but don’t want to or can’t use) and it’ll give you tons more that have the same feel or style to them.
